Being the parent of an Autistic child is one of the toughest battles anyone could ever live through. With so many levels and variations of Autism every child is clearly unique. In our society, many people assume that your child is a "Rain Man" capable of counting straws, complete memory recall, etc; that however does happen in some, and I believe every child has a degree of Savant in one shape or another. It has been a long hard 19 years, but I have come to realize that God does not make mistakes. My son is here for a reason. He has helped mold and shape this Artisan. I have set aside my own personal thoughts of how my son will never play an organized sport, a video game, go to the movies, the mall, join the military, have a date, get married, have children, or simply tell me he loves me. But I think of all that he can do and know that he is my blessing from above, just in a special wrapper. Below are many informative links that will give you as much information as you are willing to read. God Bless every Child and to every parent/teacher/caregiver, may God bless you all too. If anyone needs information or someone to talk to, share information or just vent, feel free to drop WoodStone a line. We also participate in Autism events and other causes.
